Discover the Rule Inside the Math Machine

Math Brain is an educational number puzzle where you try to understand how a special transformation machine changes numbers. Instead of giving you the rule immediately, the game lets you send numbers through the machine and observe what comes out on the other side. Your job is to use those results to work out what mathematical rule the machine is following.

The game turns mental math into a small mystery. You know the starting number and the result, but you need to discover what happens between them.

Drag Numbers Onto the Conveyor Belt

Numbers can be dragged onto a conveyor belt and sent through the transformation machine. Once a number passes through, the machine changes it.

For example, imagine that 3 goes into the machine and 6 comes out. That result could suggest a rule such as “multiply by 2.” You should not decide from only one example, though. Try another number and see whether the same idea still works.

If 5 then becomes 10, your rule looks much more likely to be correct.

This process teaches you to look for patterns rather than guess from one result.

Test Your Idea

The useful part of Math Brain is that you can check your thinking.

A rule may involve adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, or another simple number change. Look at several examples and ask what operation can turn every starting number into its result.

When your first idea fails, use the new information and try another rule. A wrong guess can actually help because it removes one possibility.

Math Brain is not mainly about answering calculations as quickly as possible. It asks you to notice relationships between numbers.

That makes the game useful for understanding the early ideas behind functions and number rules without needing complicated mathematical language.
